James Dowson ( John Merrick) and Nick Warburton (the play's Director) visited London's Whitechapel Road area
and the London Hospital Museum as part of their research into the life of the real 'Elephant' Man.
The photographs were taken in
and around the locations where Merrick
was first exhibited (still a shop) and
lived, in rooms at the (now) Royal London Hospital.
